Glossary

Generic Skills

Generally considered to be those skills common to all forms of learning and working such as problem solving, writing, using technology. These types of skills are learnt in the context of a particular discipline. Transferability and generalising of these skills however is questionable.

Grade-related DescriptorsA description of the type of work that would attract each grade.
Graduate AttributesA descriptive set of characteristics of a graduate.
Graduate Outcomes

What a graduate of a course is expected to know, understand or be able to do as a result of the learning process in an Undergraduate Programme.

Learning Outcome

A statement of what the learner is expected to know, understand or be able to do as a result of a learning process.

Objective

What the teacher intends to achieve in the unit of study e.g., “cover auditing concepts and procedures”.

UWA Educational Principles

A description of a set of values, attitudes, knowledge and skills that “students at The University of Western Australia will be encouraged and facilitated to develop”.
