The principal purpose of peer review is to encourage reflection and development of practice, skills and understanding of teaching and learning.
UWA values the importance of peer review in enhancing the quality of teaching and learning and encourages all staff to engage in an ongoing, developmental peer review process of being reviewed and as a reviewer.
In August 2009, the University Teaching and Learning Committee endorsed a series of principles around Peer Review of Teaching at UWA, and a Good Practice Guide to support faculties, schools and individuals engaging with a peer review process
These principles were endorsed by the Teaching and Learning Committee in May 2009, and informed the development of the good practice guide provided below. These principles have been developed over a number of years and are the result of a long process of considering the most appropriate model of peer review for implementation at UWA.
This good practice guide has been developed from the principles endorsed by the University Teaching and Learning Committee and provide practical advice to faculties, schools and individuals in relation to undertaking regular peer review of teaching for developmental purposes
This resource accompanies the good practice guide above and provides specific support and assistance for staff carrying out peer review of classroom teaching through observation.
