Feedback is important as it reinforces effective behaviour and facilitates change (Macy Initiative on Health Communication, n.d.).

·         ‘Learning from feedback’(pp. 131-134) in Teaching for Learning at University: Theory and Practice  (Chalmers & Fuller, 1995) provides useful basic strategies to encourage students to learn from feedback on assignments and examinations.

·         Some brief ‘dos and don’ts’ relating to feedback on course work and continuous assessment appear on pp. 97 - 98 of Practical Pointers for University Teachers. (Cox, 1994)
