History taking is obviously important but, to the student, it is sometimes not as immediate or significant as clinical signs.

·         Dornan et al. (1997) in Innovations in teaching clinical medicine and dentistry (Dennick, 1997) outline a project to enhance students’ ability in history-taking (pp. 47-50).

·         In The Medical Teacher (Cox & Ewan., 1982) Cox discusses various aspects of “Teaching physical examination skills” (Chap. 18) and Barrand discusses “Teaching interviewing skills” (Chap. 19).
