CATLyst Network

New Role for CATLysts in 2009

The CATLyst Network consists of local appointees (CATLysts) within the Faculties who have broad responsibility for promoting teaching and learning within the Faculty and to work with others within the Network to promote teaching and learning within the broader UWA community. The Network appointment benefits the Faculty by providing a focal point for the promotion of teaching and learning within the Faculty. The CATLyst is able to make a contribution to teaching and learning development and new initiatives in the Faculty as well as contributing to the development of policy and strategic planning in the area of teaching and learning.

CATL coordinates the Network and its activities to promote teaching and learning within the broader UWA community. CATL's contribution to the Network is to promote awareness of interesting developments and best practice within UWA and elsewhere and to keep CATLysts abreast of current developments and trends.

In 2007/08 the CATLyst Network received an Improving Student Satisfaction funding grant to investigate means of improving formative feedback provided to students. The following resources resulted from that project:

Students' Guide to Making the Most of Feedback

During 2008 there were discussions held on the realignment of  the CATLyst Network to more clearly articulate their function relative to CATL and their home faculties. In 2009, CATLysts have been appointed on a 0.2 FTE basis for a period of two years.  The specific function of the Network is to collaboratively develop training and resources to support sessional staff within individual faculties and supporting the overall activities of CATL. Details of this new arrangement are available on the CATL website.  Some of the faculties elected not to nominate a CATLyst.

The current 2009 CATLyst Network membership is comprised of:
