Assessment and feedback project - policy development

Assessment and feedback project

Assessment of student learning is an important educational enterprise of the University.

A university policy that supports and underpins existing good practice enables assessment practices and procedures to align with broader goals and educational outcomes.

As UWA moves into 2012 with the implementation of New Courses 2012, it will no longer be feasible or practical to leave assessment policy to the local level, as cross-school/discipline study becomes standard through broadening courses, and degrees are not issued at the faculty level. This indicates that the creation of a framework of a University-wide assessment policy is timely.

Throughout 2011 the University will be reviewing assessment policy and is working to create a set of principles to guide faculties in this area.

Guidelines

The current University guidelines include:

  • Minimum Essentials for Good Practice in assessment
  • Guidelines on Learning Skills
  • Guidelines on Assessment.
