ULTRIS - New undergraduate research initiative!

Following a very successful initial year, ULTRIS is again being offered in 2010.

ULTRIS (Undergraduate Learning and Teaching Research Internship Scheme) will focus specifically on research into teaching and learning.

Undergraduate students (except those in their first or honours years of study) will be eligible to apply for an internship. Nominations will be called for in early October and students may apply as individuals or teams (no more than three members per team). One internship per faculty will be made available. Interns will receive $3000 (in the case of teams this amount will be shared). It is intended that the payment associated with the internship would allow students to gain some income without having to engage in work external to the university. It is expected that students undertaking the internship would not do so while maintaining outside work commitments.

Successful applicants will be expected to attend a series of workshops to be conducted during Februrary 2010 to prepare them for the research they will undertake. The data collection phase of their project will be conducted during Semester 1, 2010. Interns will be required to write an academic paper and present their research in an appropriate forum (academic conference or faculty meeting).

More information is available here, in the Frequently Asked Questions, and in the documents below or by contacting Dr Lee Partridge, lee.partridge@uwa.edu.au or 6488 1582.
