Video - Close Encounters of the Academic Kind
Critical Incidents II presents ten vignettes (each lasting 3 - 4 minutes) on issues such as maintaining control in class, group assignments, diversity and expectations of students, academic standards and 'publish or perish'. The second in a series, the video and guide book were produced by the University of Victoria, British Columbia. The vignettes provide useful tools for analysing and discussing typical work-related challenges and developing guidelines for actions and resolution. While most incidents are related to a specific discipline, the issues are generic and likely to be familiar to most viewers. Good viewing individually but even better with a small group of colleagues.
Duration: 35 minutes (approx.)
