Inclusive attitudes and practices

In 2002, UWA published a discussion paper titled Inclusive Curriculum at UWA. The introduction to the paper notes that

Inclusive Curriculum is central to the University's ability to attract and retain the best students, and central to the provision of the highest quality of education. Inclusive Curriculum is not about catering for minority groups to the exclusion of others; it is concerned with improving the quality of education for all.

This issue of ITL explores the challenges of making sure we are inclusive in our attitudes and our practices, so that we offer the best support to all seeking a high quality education. The features challenge us to think afresh about how we see our students and our teaching.

The Centre for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning (CATL) invites reader response to its publication ITL. Responses advancing the scholarly debate of issues raised will be published in the Web version of that issue.
