A time management manual that provides step by step guide to: identify “make time” and use time more effectively and efficiently.
Collis, J., & Leboueuf, M. (1995). Work smarter not harder. Sydney, NSW: Harper-Collins. Suggestions for working effectively and efficiently are provided. Some of the ideas, such as setting goals and team work, may seem ‘common sense’, but there are useful tips on how to apply the ideas.
McGee-Cooper, A., Trammell, D., & Lau, B. (1992). You don’t have to go home from work exhausted! New York, NY: Bantam Books. Some common “energy traps” that could lead to burnout are identified, and strategies to avoid the traps or find means for a more balanced life are suggested. Experiences of leaders in society and humorous illustrations are used to explain the strategies.
Pocock, B. (2003). The work/life collision: What work is doing to Australians and what to do about it. Leichhardt, NSW: The Federation Press. Data collected by government departments and other organisations, as well as outcomes of research into various aspects of life, are used to explain the “collision”. The book discusses consequences of this collision for Australian society and provides suggestions for “countering the collision” from the employer/policy perspectives.
Robinson, B. (2001). Fathering from the fast lane: Practical ideas for busy dads. Sydney, NSW: Finch Publishing. The book uses views from 75 fathers in Australia (and other members in a family) to address issues that fathers face in balancing their time with work and family.
Tinca, H., & Fox, C. (2004). Better than sex: How a whole generation got hooked on work. Milsons Point, NSW: Random House Australia. The changes in workplace practices and employee’s attitudes to work are examined, in particular the changes during 1990’s that brought about an ‘obsession with work’.
