Teaching and Learning Month 2009 - Hypothetical

Engaged or Disengaged?  The Role of the Curriculum

Friday 22nd May 12:30 - 2pm, Woolnough Lecture Theatre

(Please note change of venue to the 'wet weather' option)

Picture this! It’s 2020 and at UWA the new course structure has been operating for eight years. Several cohorts of undergraduates have completed one of the university’s new courses and even some Masters and postgraduate coursework students have graduated. It’s time for a review! Prof. Don Markwell, now a member of the august Australian University’s Quality Audit Directorate (AUQAD), has been tasked with the job of conducting the Course Review review.

Aided and abetted by members of the university staff (both real and fictional) and by students, under the spotlight of a curious and probing media, Prof Markwell conducts his review. What will his verdict be?

Joining Prof Markwell is a “cast” of university and community identities including Prof Krishna Sen, Dr Susan Maushart, Ms Verity James and Dr Neville Bruce. The hypothetical will be moderated by St. George’s  Rev. Canon Richard Pengelley. Come for lunch (a picnic will be provided) and stay for the fun!
