UWA Centre for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning
Apple Inc. and the Centre for the Advancement of Teaching and
Learning (CATL) at The University of Western Australia are
offering prizes for the Best Presentation at Teaching
and Learning Forum 2007. The Forum is designed to provide
opportunities for dialogue about teaching and learning. This
dialogue should happen both in formal sessions as well as during
the breaks and social activities. The award for best presentation
is offered to encourage presenters to engage participants in a
dialogue during their presentation and to demonstrate good
learning and teaching practice. There will be a prize for best
paper presentation (iPod nano provided by Apple Inc.) and one for
best workshop presentation (prize provided by CATL).
Each presentation will be evaluated by the Session Chair and
three (3) participants randomly selected by the Chair. You may be
asked to complete an evaluation form on more than one occasion.
Forms will be provided in the rooms for each session and
distributed by the Session Chair. If you are asked to evaluate
presentations in the session, use one sheet for the full session
which may have 2, 3 or 4 presentations.
The presentations will be rated on the three criteria listed
on the sample form (below) with comments noted in the space
provided. Raters should use the full range of the ratings scale
to assist in differentiating excellent presentations. At the end
of each presentation, the rater should add up the ratings and
note the total score in the space provided, ensuring that the
title of the presentation and the presenter(s) names are
recorded.
Evaluation forms should be placed in the envelope provided in
the room before the participants leave the session. If a rater
needs to leave part way through a session, please pass the rating
form to another participant remaining in the session. The
evaluation forms are anonymous and will only be seen by the Best
Presentation Award committee. The
decision of the committee will be final and no correspondence
will be entered into.
