Teaching and Learning Forum 2007

Student Engagement30-31 January 2007 |
Welcome
The University of Western Australia invites you to attend the
annual Teaching and Learning Forum. The theme for the 2007
Teaching and Learning Forum is Student Engagement. What do we
mean by student engagement? The Forum will provide the
opportunity to explore this question and what it means for
teaching and learning and the student learning experience.
The US National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) uses five
clusters of effective educational practice around which student
engagement can be discussed:
- Level of academic challenge
- Active and collaborative learning
- Student-faculty interaction
- Enriching educational experiences
- Supportive campus environment
These five clusters of effective educational practice are
appropriate sub-themes on which to base our discussions on
student engagement at the 2007 Teaching and Learning Forum. The
Forum welcomes everyone involved in the challenge of engaging
students in all aspects of their university experience.
We aim to engage you in meaningful and productive dialogue
with your colleagues at the 2007 Teaching and Learning Forum.
